All my life I can remember having mixed feelings on whether I wanted to fit in or not.
Currently I love roller coasters, rides, the beach, camping, ski doo’s, sea doo’s and all sorts of things. I’ve even tried white water rafting before. Wow. That was fun.
It’s funny though, you won’t catch me standing on a 3 step ladder, but i’ll be more then happy to jump onto a crazy coaster - No problem!
When I was younger, I’d always been kind of a tomboy, a geek, quite creative and artistic and I kind of knew everyone but I was never the really popular one. When people needed me, they knew where to find me.
I was also kind of a loner in a sense that I enjoyed just sitting around chilling out and doing my own thing. Not following anyone in particulars lead.
I loved music, so I joined the band. I loved sports so I was on the track team, soccer team and volleyball team. If there was an art event or something where I could volunteer to help, i’d be there, no question.
I’m talking elementary school here, so it was quite a long time ago.
I even had extra curicular activities where I remember being in the air cadets and flying in a glider. How cool is that.
So exhilirating and scary because I did have a fear of heights but wanted to try it because I knew the feeling I would get would be incredible.
I didn’t care what anyone thought of me. I was doing things that made me happy and I loved to help out any way I could.
So where was the point in my life that lead me to believe that I had to be just like everyone to fit in?
I think I had moved to another city and well, growing up, kids can be cruel. So I decided to fit in a little bit more. I did what my friends wanted to do.
Listened to them whether their opinions were good or bad. I felt like I was a puppet and the strings were on way to tight.
Anyways, point i’m trying to make here is that i’ve gone in a full 360° circle and am happier now as I was when I was little and just trying to be me.
And thats important. As soon as I started steering away from “me”, is when things were becoming blurry and I couldn’t see situations mostly because deep down I really didn’t want to do them.
The easiest way I could explain the way I was feeling was that I was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, and it just wasn’t working.
In case you haven’t noticed, I love a great challenge. Something to keep me coming back for more. Kind of like this whole marketing world i’ve come to love.
Every single day I find myself doing things that i’ve never done before in my life and it doesn’t feel like i’m doing any work at all.
Shouldn’t everything in life be like that?
For me I never put the belief in my head that I would have lack in my life. I always knew that I would go somewhere far. Regardless of those around me.
I just had to be the right ‘real’ person first. I will only be successful to the degree that my awareness can see.
My eyes are opening up everyday and new things that are getting me closer to my goal are definitely just around the corner - 2 inches away from my comfort zone.
I have to go there now that I know there is more.
So don’t be scared, be the person you were meant to be.
Don’t listen to others who can’t see what you’ve had a glimpse of seeing.
You caught that glimpse because the universe wanted you to see it and because it was something you were ready for.
Watch out for others that you may or may not know to remind you of the things you really do want in your life.
All the things that make you, your undeniable truth.
Don’t fight it either, or you’ll make the universe take it back and you’ll have to ask twice as much and work twice as hard to see it again.
Wrath of Mother Nature.
