Internet marketing for me is still a reletively new area. Granted I know a lot of things about the internet and how to find information and set up web sites etc blah blah.
I think maybe it’s the marketing bit that was troubling me before.
Not anymore.
I came across a youtube video (social media at it’s best baby) and two well known internet marketers made a little video. One was interviewing the other and they were talking about how they got started way back in the day when it was a luxury to have dial up.
You know, the days where you had to hang up the phone in order to use the world wide web.
Funny, but it wasn’t that long ago. (Should tell you about how fast things are happening).
Anyways, they were talking to each other, joking around, having a beer. The setting was at Frank Kern’s Mass Control and these two were having a ball.
Discussing their days and how they first came across autoresponders. The reference to the way they were speaking to each other was as if they were cave men and they were trying to explain to the other what fire was when neither of them had seen it…lol. Quite comical if I do say so myself.
Ok, so whats my point.
These guys started at some point in their careers just like me and you. At one point they didn’t know what an autoresponder was. Just like now there are all these new programs out there that have to be learned and tested and adapted to your business. It’s actually a lot of fun if you look at it with curiousity and not with frustration.
There are a ton, ton, ton of tools out there and if you’re going to focus on all of them you’re headed for disaster. Learn one at a time, connect them all together and find great people to help you do it. Simple. My philosophy…KISS - keep it simple stupid.
And remember, just like fine wine, it’s going to take some time for your real self and the real unveiling of your business online to unfold. Give it some time and remember cheese tastes good with wine.
Allow yourself the time and effort to make an online presence and have a mentor. Someone who can help you who has already been there who wants to help and be duplicatable, but in your own unique way. The formula is the same but the outcome will be different depending on the type of person you are.
If these guys can do it, and stay so humble and still have a lot of fun, then what are you waiting for? You’re next paycheck from your boss? Remember, Joe Schroeder reminds us all the time but the weight of regret weighs a whole lot more then the weight of discipline.
Discipline yourself, read the books, research find what you’re looking for. Be in the presense of people who are heading towards the same goals as you and you’ll always be surrounded by positive vibes. Sometimes the family and friends just don’t understand, and thats ok, because this journey is not about them. It’s about you and also me.
Be like cavemen, figure it out, get excited about what you learn and then let it be like the back of your hand. Know it inside and out and use the tools, whatever they may be to perpetuate you to your success.
